All three of the Watershed Districts have jurisdictional authoriy <br />within the City, and therefore each must review and approve the Citys Plan to ensure consistency with the <br />respective Watershed District Plan. <br />Goals and Policies <br />The following table summarizes the goals related to surface wate <br />goals are a reflection of the City Councils desire to reach ad ain a high quality of life for the Citys <br />residents. <br />GoalGoal Statement <br />Goal 1  Flood Protection and Runoff Provide flood protection to the maximum extent practicable <br />Management for all residents and structures and to protect the integrity of <br />our drainage and detention systems through runoff <br />management <br />Goal 2  Surface Water Protection Maintain or improve the water quality and ecological integrity <br />of the Citys lakes, ponds, and wetlands. <br />Goal 3  Groundwater Protection Protect the quality and quantity of groundwater through <br />collaboration with local and state agencies managing <br />groundwater resources. <br />Goal 4  Public Education and Outreach Promote stewardship and increase awareness of land and <br />water resources through public education and outreach. <br />Goal 5  Pollution Prevention and Protect the quality of the Citys water resources through <br />Maintenance pollution prevention, good housekeeping practices, and <br />routine maintenance. <br />Goal 6  Coordination and Collaboration To simplify and streamline processes and draw upon the <br />expertise and resources of other local, state, and federal <br />agencies in water resources management efforts. <br />Goal 7  Sustainability Achieve the water quality and water resources needs of the <br />City based on the foundation of efficient use of community <br />resources.
