REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Date: June 10, 2013 Item No.: 7.f Department Approval City Manager Approval Item Description: Approve Firefighters Relief Association Amended Bylaws B ACKGROUND 1 Every year the Roseville Firefighters Relief Association goes through a review and audit from 2 the State Auditor’s office. As part of this audit, the Association’s Bylaws are reviewed for 3 accuracy and ensures that we are aligned with any new state legislation. During our audit in late 4 2011, the State Auditor raised several concerns over several sections of the Bylaws that were in 5 conflict with legislation that was passed that year. 6 The Association’s board has been working along with legal counsel over the last year to make 7 necessary changes to all portions of the bylaws that were identified in the Auditor’s report. The 8 Board has also has several conversations with the State Auditors Office to make sure that the 9 proposed changes, as identified meet the new criteria and resolve all conflicts with state laws. 10 These changes were presented to the active membership for approval during our Annual Meeting 11 this past January.
