Comment: The College as Environmental Steward: The Coilege's actions are <br />inconsistent with the goal of preserving the irreplaceable nature of their campus <br />or of the environment. <br />Response: The College disagrees. Since 2003, the College has had an active <br />buckthorn removal process providing 40 hours a week to buckthorn removal <br />during the summer months and the College wil! continue with this plan. Also, <br />during the spring, the biology department util�zes lab�time to remove buckthorn <br />around campus. This last spring, the biology c/ass corisisted of 44 students out <br />in the field removing buckthorn. �"��� <br />Y. _.^'s.,�.;�0, <br />�' �_ .�. <br />`t' ::...-,-'~/�. <br />The Co//ege continues to have Campus Service Day, which includes campus <br />clean-up where students, faculty, and staff participate to make.a;'significant <br />,`�i��:� <br />impact on keeping our campus free of litter. �;,��� <br />�. <br />The College continues to plant trees around the campus in an effort to replace <br />/ost trees due to storm�da age or their natural life cycles. <br />��� <br />Concerning storm water:m�anagement and erosion control, the EAW outlines <br />that the College recognize,s��;�haf se�e,ral outfall structures are in need of <br />rehabilitation or replaceme t: The E� W states that these improvements will <br />'� � ��� -��� <br />coincide with other stormwater a�ta;gement�mp ovements and portrons of the <br />proposed project, depend�ng o�t_ �location of�t�ie outfall structure. <br />Also, the EAW states that specia n; easures will be taken to protect any adjacent <br />water bodies or wetlands from erosl.o and sedimentation durrng and after <br />construction while vegetation is ge��g established. InstaUation of high flow silt <br />fences and bio-rolls will be installed prior to construction and maintained <br />throughout construction until furf has been estab/ished. <br />The Co//ege has demonstrated a c/ear and evident appreciation of their campus. <br />The maintenance issues discussed by residents throughout the PUD and EAW <br />process are recognized by the Co/lege and will be addressed.
