REQUEST FOR HRA ACTION <br />Date: 06-19-13 <br />Item No: 9a <br />Staff Approval: Agenda Section: <br /> Action <br />Item Description: RFP for consultant services for Business Retention & Expansion <br />Requested Action <br />1.0 <br />That the RHRA review the Request for Proposal (RFP) for consulting services to <br />establish a Business, Retention & Expansion report of Roseville Businesses. <br />Background <br />2.0 <br />Retain and attract desirable <br />The RHRA 2012-2016 Strategic Plan goal number #5 is to <br />housing and businesses that lead to employment, investment, and commitment to the <br />community. <br />When this goal was developed, the RHRA’s objective was not only to <br />engage the community in developing business development priorities, but to create strong <br />relationships with existing and prospective businesses by understanding their needs and <br />maximizing opportunities for business retention, growth, and development. <br />RHRA staff recently completed training offered by the University of MN Extension <br />office that highlighted the value of surveying current businesses to better understand <br />impediments faced by the business community and to learn how to foster relationships <br />with existing businesses. <br />The RHRA did budget funds in 2013 for Economic Development and specifically to pay <br />for professional services to facilitate community engagement. Additionally, RHRA staff <br />has received a commitment of $2500 from Xcel Energy to assist the RHRA with hiring a <br />consultant. <br />Staff has prepared an RFP for the RHRA to review and discuss. <br />Staff Recommended Action <br />3.0 <br />Staff is recommending authorizing the RFP for consultant services to assist the RHRA in <br />completing a survey and compiling the information in a report with recommendations. <br />Prepared by: Jeanne Kelsey, Acting HRA Executive Director (651-792-7086) <br /> Attachment: RFP for BR& E <br />RHRA_ Agenda (6-19-13) - Page 1 <br /> <br />
