In <br />June 2007, the City approved a conditional use permit for PetSmart to open a pet and pet <br />supply store within Rosedale Commons Shopping Center, but determined that the scope of <br />PetSmart's proposed pet boarding use was too great to be allowed as an accessory use under <br />the City's current ordinances. The purpose of this letter is to continue our discussion with <br />the City about the options for how the zoning text could be amended to allow for PetSmart's <br />proposed use, as well as similar pet boarding uses in appropriate zoning districts in the City. <br />Options for Zoning Text Amendments Relating to Pet Boarding <br />We have identified several options that would allow for pet boarding in PetSmart stores and <br />other businesses that provide overnig�t boarding and/or day car for pets. <br />lnclude a Qualifier in the Use Table Allowin� Pet Boardin� as an Accessory ilse in a <br />Pet and Pet Su�pl Store. <br />"The simplest option would be to add a"qualif er" statement in the zoning district use tables <br />that specifies that pet boarding is an allowed accessory use to a pet and pet supply store. The <br />City's zoning code already identifies permitted accessory uses for some other types of land <br />uses in this mannei•.
