- --
6.5 Because of concern for traffic safety, however, Community Development staff believes
that the proposed temporary sign should not be erected in the required Traffic Visibility
Triangle. The site plan included with this report as Attachment C illustrates the Traffic
Visibility Triangle and a suggested location for the sign that appears to be consistent with
the applicant's request.
6.6 At the time of writing this report, two comments from the public had been received; one
indicating support and one in opposition with the opinion that such an off-site sign would
be "tacky" and that Centennial Gardens can adequately advertise in the traditional media
— like newspapers, apartment guides, etc. — without the need for a billboard.
%.O STAFF RECOMMENDATION
7.1 Based on the comments and findings detailed in Sections 4, 5, and 6 of this report, the
Planning Division recommends approval of the requested INTExM UsE PEuvtT, subject
to the following conditions:
a.
b.
c.
The area of the sign shall conform to the illustration reviewed with this
application;
The height of the sign shall be consistent with the proportions represented in the
illustration reviewed with this application;
The sign shall be erected in a location consistent with the site plan reviewed as
part of this application, and;
d. The I1vTERtvt UsE PET shall be valid from the day after it is approved by the
City Council, subject to the issuance of a sign permit, through December 31,
2008.
H.O SUGGESTED ACTION
8.1 BY MOTION, RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF AN INTERIM USE PERMIT for
Centennial Gardens and the owners of the property at 2797-2833 Hamline Avenue, to
allow a temporary billboard based on the comments and findings of Sections 5 and 6 and
the recommendation of Section 7 of the project report dated May 7, 2008.
Prepared by: Associate Planner Bryan Lloyd
Attachments: A: Area map C: Site plan
B: Aerial photo D: Sign elevations
PF08-013 RPCA 050708
Page 3 of 3
