The city <br />administrators made us aware of your correspondence to the city regarding our application <br />for a conditional use permit provided us with your contact information. The below <br />information is relevant to our application and may enhance your understanding of our <br />company and the pawn industry. We have also enclosed a list of Frequently Asked <br />Questions and some recent articles on our business and the pawn industry. <br />We currently operate 14 stores in Minnesota (8), Indiana (4) and Missouri (2) under the <br />Cash-N-Pawn and maX it PAWN brand names. Our brightly lit, well-organized, <br />professionally-staffed shops meet our customers' needs for a quick cash loan or as a source <br />for great values on a variety of quality pre-owned merchandise such as jewelry, home <br />electronics, sporting goods and tools. <br />Our core values for both employees and customers include (1) Welcome - we provide a <br />friendly and welcoming atmosphere; (2) Respect - we will always respect the dignity and <br />privacy of others; and (3) Integrity - we will conduct ourselves and our business with the <br />highest integrity. Additional information: <br />. All pawn shops in the State of Minnesota are required to report all transactions to the <br />local police on a daily basis. This is done by sending an electronic file containing <br />certain required information (serial numbers, descriptions, valid state issued photo <br />ID, etc.) to the police using the APS (automated pawn system). The APS was created <br />by the City of Minneapolis and more detail is available at <br />http: //www.govtoaovsolutions. org <br />• Many people express concern that pawn shops provide an outlet for stolen <br />merchandise. However, police confiscations nationally run at less than 1.0% of <br />transactions and confiscations in our stores equaled only 0.41% of all trensactions in <br />calendar 2007. <br />. NOTE: We have a company policy against pornography and the Roseville store will <br />not provide check cashing or do transactions involving guns. Store hours will be <br />consistent with our mall neighbors and are contemplated to be 10-7 weekdays, 10-6 <br />Saturday, and 12-6 Sunday. <br />What we are asking for is a conditional use permit to operate a pawn shop at this location. <br />Please understand that our license and our use permit are revocable and subject to annual <br />review. The bar for compliance is high and under constant monitoring by city police.
