Recommendation to Reappoint Joan Dao and Appointment of Sara Thomas: Commissioner <br />Thao moved and Vice-Chair Brisbois seconded a motion to recommend the Council reappoint <br />Joan Dao for another term as a youth commissioner. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Youth Commissioner Laden indicated that Sarah Thomas was still interested in serving on the <br />HRC. <br />Chair Grefenberg moved and Commissioner Groff seconded a motion to recommend the Council <br />appoint Sarah Thomas as a youth commissioner. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Chair Grefenberg moved and Commissioner Becker seconded a motion to direct Staff to post <br />notice regarding the one vacancy for the youth commission position. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />Chair Grefenberg requested the Outreach Committee and Youth Commissioners conduct the <br />interviews. <br />Staff Report <br />Carolyn Curti noted Nicholas Behrens received a first place for his essay from the League of <br />Minnesota Cities Human Rights Commission. She explained the League of Minnesota Human <br />Rights Commissions would recognize him for this accomplishment on April 27. <br />Future Agenda Items <br />Commissioner poneen would report bacic to the HRC on the teacher's comments regarding the <br />student essay contest. <br />Announcements <br />Chair Grefenberg asked the Commission's concurrence to add to the agenda discussion and <br />action regarding Megan Dushin's interest in attending the workshop From Conversation to <br />Confirmation, How to Host a Coinr�cunity Dialogue. He asked if the HRC supported covering the <br />$25 registration fee for Ms. Duschan. He noted that up to four members could attend and there <br />were still two openings �or the event on Thursday, May 9 at Macalester College. Joan Dao <br />indicated interest in attending. <br />Commissioner Thao moved and Commissioner poneen seconded a motion to allow Megan <br />Dushin to attend the social laboratory event at Macalester College on May 9 with the HRC <br />covering the $25 expense. Motion passed unanimously. <br />Adjournment <br />Commissioner Thao moved and Commissioner poneen seconded a motion to adjourn. Motion <br />passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 8:35 p.m. <br />
