My wife began her licensed
home daycare provider business, which she has had for 19
years serving many Roseville families. The traffic volume
and speed of the traffic at morning and evening peak travel
time has made it extremely dangerous for parents to drop off
and/or pick up children and infants. In the past we have
parked our vehicles on the Hamline Ave riqht of way and the
area requested to be driveway. In recent months the city has
told us we can no longer park there or we will be fined $100
per occurrence. Our intention has been and is to request a
driveway permit, but first we need a variance to go to the
property line in order to save and not harm a boulevard oak
tree, which would be our second hardship.
With the variance, we could have a two fold solution;
additional parking to allow parents to drop off and unload
a safe distance away from busy Hamline Ave and to keep the
boulevard tree which we all benefit from.
Knowing that our neighbors were selling their home and that
we would have new neighbors, we waited to speak to them.
We have spoken with and discussed this situation and request
with them, and they have no objection to the driveway if the
variance is permitted by the city. If the city would need
that in writing I would be glad to get it for them. Our plan
is to use paver blocks to not necessarily take away from the
Zandscape by adding more concrete.
' 4
