I've worried
about whatwe are doing to land owners when when we arbitrarily change their
permitted
land uses.
I would request the developer involved submit it's pan to the Staff and
Council for a 2/3 vote beforeproceeding, and I would adhere to theLand
Planning Process described in Minnesota Laws, 1997. (It didn't take long for
cities, through
there lobby Minnesota League of Cities, to get the Legisature to alter it back
to mostly amajority vote—those cowards who are
supposed to be representing we citizens. Anything to keep their elective
seats,l guess! They are not supposed to be in the pocket of developers, as is
our current local Council.)
i can say that because in the last election, some unidentified
developer interested in buying access, put out several mailings for Dan Roe,
and Craig Klausing (The weekend before the voting.) I wouldguess he spent
about $10,000 apeace, and I know there was also a paid telephonecampaign.
The St. Paui Chamber of Commerce also stuck it's nose into
our business, an put out a mailer tooting Klausing and Roe as a"team" I
mustsay Dan has become an outstanding leader, wiliing to move forward
andLEAD. That is what this Council has been
lacking—LEADERSHIP. Tammy Pust is nowstarting to take a leadership
position too. Thanks to both for that.
Note: I will have a number of attchments to make this story complete, to be
handed out at tonighYs meeting, rather than having your download and print
out yourself.
See You Tonight!
4 of 1
... ..
9i I I i2008 3:04 PM
