stoppage or hindrance or a backup or danger of any kind since our
city council has provided through the MnDOT a turn lane. This is the
scenario in the morning when people are coming to work. There is
absolutely no danger or risk to any party. I fail to see the risk here. I
am sorry. If on the other hand the workers are coming from the
Autumn Street and parking, there is even less risk since Autumn
Street has no traffic at any time. Now let us look at the evening
scenario.
Even when the previous tenants were there I do not believe that
anybody went home backing out of the lot towards Lexington and
going home via Autumn Street. But in particular I, my wife and any
other workers never parked there since I heard of the dispute. The
city planner saw some cars there at one time. That was not us. That
was somebody in the neighborhood that parked there inadvertently. I
have not since then, allowed anybody to park there. Indeed in the
summer time I block the area off and put a no parking sign there.
Sorry for the digression.
Continuing, even if ine or my workers park there they would not be
backing into the Lexington Avenue by any stretch of imagination.
How is that a risk?
I would like to point out that even if a parker backed out towards
Lexington from the parking lot they would not even come close to
Lexington since there are 55 feet to go and the largest car we ever
built was only 18 feet! Moreover, if you are an American, you belong
[o the most experienced driver nation on earth. You need only 20 feet
or less to back your modern small car out to Lexington without
disturbing a thing on Lexington. The driver on Lexington will not
even see you! And of course if you are backing towards Autumn
Street then the risk is purely imaginary, to say the most. I just fail to
see the risk and to who and from where?
I hate to beat the point to death but I would like to remind you that
there are literally hundreds and thousands of households with more
than one car in their driveway right on Lexington and they back in
and out each day at least once if not more. I can see that they are
indeed a risk to traffic on Lexington and to themselves. But to be
honest I am not in the least bit worried about it. Why? Because we
are the most experienced driver nation on earth and we are very
courteous to each other by a very large margin. 1 have seen many
Americans slow down or even stop to let their fellow American get
out of his drive way. I do this all the time myself.
I have also attached crash data for Lexington Avenue between
Highway 36 and Larpenteur Avenue for the last 5 years. It is not easy
,-.
