I live on Belmont Lane (PIN 152923210090) and received your meeting notice. I will not be able to
attend the meeting but have several thoughts.
1) I would encourage support to continuing current arrangements. People from around the state speak positively of
what Roseville is doing, and get to know the city in general; it is a positive reflection upon Roseville that I have heard
others talk of.
2) While there may be some additional traffic (there likely would be anyway) keep in mind that having very close
park and rides is also a service to the very local residents. Residents on our block love to just walk to the end of the
block, and catch a ride to the fair, without having to drive.
3) The Park and Rides provide fellowship opportunities to the service groups that may staff the parking lots. Also
some needed fund-raising for those same groups. Many retirees look forward to their State Fair duties and greeting
fair-goers.
While I would be surprised if much resistance is found to continuing the arrangement, I have long thought that 2 or 4
free state fair tickets provided to local residents as compensation for any hardships would likely resolve most
complaints. I developed that theory many years ago when I lived adjacent to the Fairgrounds in Falcon Heights. I
would encourage you to give some thoughts to that concept as a negotiating point for us. I would suggest the
distribution area be the same as your distribution list for the public hearing. Why don't you put forth that proposal to
see where it goes? It seems like it would be a Win-Win that would cost the State Fair Board virtually nothing, and
would be a great goodwill gesture on their part. If nothing else, we would like to know the response to such a request.
Thanks for your consideration.
Jim and Sue Finnegan
1363 Belmont Lane West
Want to be your own boss?
