REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> Date: 07-08-2013 <br /> Item No.: <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Discuss and seek Council direction regarding possible changes to boat and <br />trailer parking regulations in Chapter 407 (Nuisances) of the City Code. <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />B ACKGROUND 1 <br />x In response to concerns from citizens, Council has identified the need to review city code public 2 <br />nuisance regulations regarding the parking and storage of trailers and boats on residential 3 <br />property.4 <br />R OSEVILLE C ITY CODE 5 <br />x Roseville’s City Code contains the following regulations (in Chapter 407 Nuisances) regarding 6 <br />the parking and storage of trailers and boats on residential property:7 <br />o Section 407.03: Nuisances Affecting Peace and Safety:8 <br />Item Q: Storing of Boats, Trailers and Inoperative Motor Vehicles In Front 9 <br />Yards:10 <br />The storing of the following things for a period longer than 72 hours in 11 <br />the front yard of any residential zoned area (would qualify as a public 12 <br />nuisance):13 <br /> a. Trailers of any kind, unless supporting a boat of 20 feet or less.14 <br /> b. Boats or watercraft of any kind in excess of 20 feet.15 <br /> c. Inoperative motor vehicles of any type. 16 <br /> d. Campers and camper buses. 17 <br />2. For the purpose of this Section, "front yard" means any area between 18 <br />any public street and a line parallel to the public street at the building 19 <br />line. (Ord. 522, 1-9-1967; 1995 Code)20 <br />x Note: There are no regulations in the city code that prohibit or limit the parking of boats or 21 <br />small trailers on city streets, provided they are properly licensed and do not create a hazard. 22 <br />R EQUESTED C OUNCIL A CTION 23 <br />x Provide direction to staff regarding: research to conduct, information to provide, or, any type of 24 <br />changes necessary, regarding trailer and boat parking regulations within Chapter 407 of 25 <br />Roseville’s City Code. 26 <br />Prepared by: Don Munson, Codes Coordinator <br /> <br />14.a
