REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Date: 7/08/2013 Revised Item No.: 7.c Department Approval City Manager Approval Item Description: Approve General Purchases or Sale of Surplus Items Exceeding $5,000 Page 1 of 2 B ACKGROUND 1 City Code section 103.05 establishes the requirement that all general purchases and/or contracts in 2 excess of $5,000 be approved by the Council. In addition, State Statutes require that the Council 3 authorize the sale of surplus vehicles and equipment. 4 5 General Purchases or Contracts 6 City Staff have submitted the following items for Council review and approval: 7 8 Comments/Description: 9 a)Internet access routers and switches to be purchased off the State Bid Contract. This is necessary to ensure internet 10 connectivity and redundancy. 11 b)This work will create a water tight seal over the manhole rings to prevent inflow into the sanitary sewer system. 12 c)This will renew the service warranties on all squad car laptops (19). 13 14 Sale of Surplus Vehicles or Equipment 15 City Staff have identified surplus vehicles and equipment that have been replaced and/or are no longer 16 needed to deliver City programs and services. These surplus items will either be traded in on replacement 17 items or will be sold in a public auction or bid process.
