Variance Application:
I am requesting a variance due to the unique circumstances to my individual property.
The property in question, 1505 Lydia Avenue West, is a corner property with the front
yard facing Lydia Avenue and the East side yard facing Arona Street. With more than
thirty feet to the West, South, and East my hardship is to the North. The home is a
Rambler style with a unique 4 x 4 tongue and grove cedar log vaulted ceiling. On one
side is the interior ceiling and on the other the old tar and gravel roof. A new trusses roof
was added on top of the old roof in 1998. Due to this style roof and being a Rambler it is
not logistically possible to build up.
The second hardship is the property lines and where the home is located. Due to home
being on a corner lot the North side of the property runs from West to East in a Southern
slope bringing the home to the North on the Arona Street side closer than thirty feet with
the new addition. Therefore in order to put an addition on and make it pleasing and
practical to the homeowner the addition is most practical in the Northeast corner of the
home. In order to complete this, a variance is necessary.
