REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: July 22, 2013 <br /> Item No.: 13.a <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Approve Amended Springsted Contract for City Manager Search <br />Item Description: <br /> Services <br />B <br />ACKGROUND <br />1 <br />2 <br />As directed by City Council on July 8 staff worked with the consultant to revise the contract with <br />3 <br />Council’s requested amendments.The amended contract is enclosed as Attachment A. It is <br />4 <br />important to note that due to the changes requested in the contract the guarantee has been <br />5 <br />eliminated. Springsted feels strongly that their involvement in the interviews is critical to their <br />6 <br />process and that Council should reconsider adding this item back into the contract. Springsted <br />7 <br />believes that the $2,500 for this step is a great value, so much so, that adding this back in would <br />8 <br />also add the guarantee back into the contract. <br />9 <br />SR <br />TAFF ECOMMENDATION <br />10 <br />11 <br />Staff recommends approving the amended contract with Springsted. <br />12 <br />PO <br />OLICYBJECTIVE <br />13 <br />Award the contract for search firm services and proceed with the recruitment and selection of the <br />14 <br />next City Manager. <br />15 <br />BI <br />UDGETMPLICATIONS <br />16 <br />Springsted’s amended contract includes a not to exceed budget of $11,100 which is $4,900 less <br />17 <br />than the original proposal.
