Commission members discussed the information gathered by Diedrickand M. Holt and made suggestions <br />on how the memo might be edited to outline the benefits, opportunities and logistics for the addition of a <br />volunteer coordinator within the Parks and Recreation division. <br />Commissioners around the table recognized the time and effort put in by Mary and Lee to tap into the <br />knowledge of established parks and recreation volunteer programs, research findings and readings on the <br />benefits and outcomes of supporting a volunteer coordinator, and the potential for financial savings and <br />increased community engagement. <br />Phil Gelbach volunteered to work with the summary written by M. Holt and Diedrick and will compile a <br />memo to be presented to the Council at their June joint meeting. <br />PARK BOARD DISCUSSION <br />6. <br />Commission discussed the draft document provided by Wall and Simbeck. All were in agreement that the <br />document was very thorough and provided good information for the Council and the Commission. <br />Commissioners once again recognized the added work done by Wall and Simbeck in collecting information <br />and summarizing the findings for the group and Council in an effort to facilitate discussions at the upcoming <br />joint Council/Commission meeting. <br />PREPARE FOR JOINT CITY COUNCIL/COMMISSION MEETING <br />7. <br />Commission Chair D. Holt reviewed draft agenda for the Joint meeting with Commissioners. <br />Commissioners agreed that the topics listed were timely and needing further discussion and direction from <br />the Council. All Commissioners agreed to take part in the discussion and lead various agenda items to insure <br />a group voice and commission-wide participation. <br />OTHER <br />8. <br />Brokke updated Commission on spring and early summer department activities and shared information <br />on upcoming department events and opportunities. <br />Meeting adjourned at 8:30pm <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br />Jill Anfang, Assistant Director <br /> <br />
