<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Pocahontas Park <br />Implementation Planning Session One <br />16 May 2013 <br />10 Attendees Signed In <br /> <br /> <br />Meeting input <br /> <br />Following an overview of the Parks and Recreation Renewal Program and its application to <br />Pocahontas Park, work session participants were asked to respond to questions about the <br />evolution of the park under the renewal program. Responses are included in this summary. <br /> <br /> <br />Exercise One Issues <br /> <br />As a large group, participants were asked to share their thoughts about issues that needed <br />to be resolved at Pocahontas Park. Responses included: <br /> <br />No parking; Pascal Street needs no <br />parking signs because it’s hard to see <br />parked cars especially in front of <br />playground <br />There is not enough good seating in the <br />park; what is there is not comfortable; <br />there are not enough picnic tables <br />Speed of traffic on Pascal Street and <br />ignoring stop signs <br />What is going to happen to the nursery? (in <br />the neighborhood) <br />No path exists to the playground Lighting has to be turned on <br />It’s a neighborhood park—people should <br />be walking to it <br />Road and sidewalk intersections are <br />dangerous <br />The park is hidden—a hidden gem—no <br />one knows about it so it’s not getting <br />used <br />Pascal Street is the straight street out to <br />County Road B2, so people drive fast on <br />that street <br />No walkways, no paths, no path from <br />senior housing <br />Walking along Pascal Street is dangerous <br />Equipment is getting old, but the merry- <br />go-round should be retained <br />There are only a few games where parking <br />is an issue <br />There’s no shade Only a few parking spaces are really needed <br />No water bags on new trees; no apparent <br />plan to the planting that has been done <br />There are no center straps on the tennis <br />court nets—they should not be removable <br />Tennis courts are in good condition; no <br />spalling <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Exercise Two Comparing directions/Ideas
