<br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> Date: 08/26/13 <br /> Item No.: 7.e <br />Department Approval City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Adopt a Resolution to Accept the Work Completed, Authorize Final <br />Payment and Commence the One-Year Warranty Period for the Josephine <br />Lift Station Reconstruction Project <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />B ACKGROUND 1 <br />The replacement of the Josephine sanitary sewer lift station was necessary to accommodate the 2 <br />additional residential homes being constructed as a part of the Josephine Woods Pulte Homes 3 <br />project. This lift station is located at the intersection of Josephine Rd. and Fernwood St. 4 <br />On May 14, 2012, the City Council awarded the Josephi ne Lift Station Reconstruction Project to 5 <br />Minger Construction Inc. of Chanhassen, Minnesota. The contract as awarded was for 6 <br />$212,290.75. 7 <br />P OLICY O BJECTIVE 8 <br />City policy requires that the following items be completed to finalize a construction contract: 9 <br /> Certification from the City Engineer verifying that all of the work has been completed in 10 <br />accordance with plans and specifications. 11 <br /> A resolution by the City Council accepting the contract and beginning the one-year warranty. 12 <br />F INANCIAL I MPACTS 13 <br />The final contract amount, $210,115.80 is $2,174.95 less than the awarded amount of 14 <br />$212,290.75. The cost decrease is the result of actual contract quantities being less than 15 <br />estimated. 16 <br />47% of the project costs were paid for by Pulte Homes per the Josephine Woods Public 17 <br />Improvement Contract. The city’s share of the cost for this improvement was funded by the 18 <br />Sanitary Sewer Utility fund. 19 <br />S TAFF R ECOMMENDATION 20 <br />The work that was completed was in accordance with project plans and specifications, staff 21 <br />recommends the City Council approve a resolution accepting the work completed and 22 <br />authorizing final payment. 23 <br />R EQUESTED C OUNCIL A CTION 24 <br />Approve the resolution accepting the work completed as SS-11-18 Josephine Lift Station 25 <br />Reconstruction Project, starting the one-year warranty and authorizing final payment. 26 <br />Prepared by: Debra Bloom, City Engineer <br />Attachments: A: Resolution <br /> B: Certification from City Engineer
