Presentations <br /> a. Joint Meeting with the Police Civil Service Commission <br /> Commission Members present were Chair Brad VandeVegt; Zoe Jenkins; and Ja- <br /> net Henquinet. <br /> Chair VandeVegt reviewed vacancies in the Police Department, noting that the <br /> candidate pool had been very good with over 400 candidates applying, including <br /> internationally, for the vacancy in the department last fall. Chair VandeVegt <br /> opined that this supported the respect given Roseville as a premier community <br /> and its Police Department as an outstanding law enforcement agency. During the <br /> hiring process, Chair VandeVegt noted that additional streamlining had been en- <br /> acted by the Commission, Chief Mathwig and his leadership team to further ex- <br /> pedite the process, including implementation of an international officer test. To- <br /> date, Chair VandeVegt advised that this had proven very effective in reviewing <br /> potential candidates. <br /> Chair VandeVegt reviewed upcoming work of the Commission in keeping the Po- <br /> lice Department fully staffed, and keeping the Police Chief and team staffed with <br /> the most qualified candidates possible. Chair VandeVegt noted that, from date of <br /> hire, it took six (6) months, regardless of a candidate's background, to bring them <br /> up to the rigorous standards of the Roseville Department. Chair VandeVegt noted <br />
