It is my understanding that The Woof Room, a dog daycare and boarding facility already
located in Ros I I e. wl 11 soon be mo vine to 20.'2. -5 Rice Street. a property located directly
I=)
aicj acent to my home- To now1edge, I am the sole residential property, o-%,vner located within
100 feet of The Woof Room" s new location. Nly property is zoned Community Business and is a
legal non-conforming residence.
I have been told about The Woof Rchi's operations. The Woof Room offers both dayear e and
overnight boardin for dogs, with open lobby and daycare hours of 7am-7pm on weekdays and
9
Sam- pro on weekend s . Dogs are always supervi s e during both indoor and outdoor play time-
In addition to outdoor visits during daycare hours, super-vi sed groups of dogs staying in the hotel
are brought outdoors to rell eve them selves shortly after 6 - 00am and shortly before 10 - 00pm each.
day. The Woof Room has always had an outdoor fenced area for the dogs. I understand that
groups of around 2.0 dogs use the outdoor area at one time and that The Woof Room s staff
return the dogs indoors if barking ever becomes excessive. In addition to ensuring that noise is
never an 1 ssue,, The Woof Room h as adequate cleaning policies i n pl ace to ensure that c dor is
never an issue as well. This includez-5 immediately picking up dog droppikszs as thew occur and
cleansing the outdoor surface regularly-
The Woof Room is proposing that their outdoor area be located on the west side of the new
I ocation, which borders and is within 100 feet of my property. Under the current zoning
V, =I
regulation wording, a business of their nattire is already allowed at the site, but the outdoor
component k-ould be required to be at lea-it 100 feet from an), residence. It is my undcrstanding
that the wording of the zoning rule can be changed to allow the outdoor space as proposed with
my permission. This proposed change has been approved by the Planning Commission and
awaits final approval by the Cltv Council, as well as my written understanding and consent.
P V
t understand and am supportive of The Woof Room's business. I understand the proposed
location of the outdoor area and, as the sole residential homeowner within 100 feet, I am sending
this letter to offer my support and consent for the City Council to ad. ust the wording of the
zoning regulation and to allow The Woof Room" s outdoor area as they have planned and
proposed it to be on the west side of the property and with] n 100 feet of my property.
Sincerely,
Loren Hockemeyer
