qASEN+h+E REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Date: 10/28/2013 Item No.: 7.g Department Approval City Manager Approval Item Description: Set Public Hearing to Consider Approving the 2014 Liquor License Renewals 1 BACKGROUND 2 Under City Code, a public hearing is required to consider approving liquor license renewals for the s following calendar year. The City has received renewal applications for 2014 as follows: 4 s 9 Off Sale Intoxicating liquor licenses (maximum of 10 permitted under City Code) s 26 On Sale Intoxicating liquor licenses 7 15 On Sale 3.2 Non - Intoxicating Malt Liquor licenses s 8 Off Sale 3.2 Non - Intoxicating Malt Liquor licenses s 4 Club liquor licenses 10 11 Wine only liquor licenses 11 1 Brewery Taproom Off Sale License 12 1 Brewery Taproom On Sale License 13 14 Neither State Statute nor City Code limits the number of licenses that can be issued under the last seven 15 categories of licenses. A detailed list of all liquor license renewals is included in Attachment A. 16 POLICY OBJECTIVE 17 The regulation of establishments that sell alcoholic beverages has been a long- standing practice by the 18 State and the City. 19 FINANCIAL IMPACTS 20 The revenue that is generated from the license fees is used to offset the cost of police compliance 21 checks, background investigations, enforcement of liquor laws, and license administration. 22 STAFF RECOMMENDATION 23 All liquor license renewal applications have met Statutory and City Code requirements.
