MEMORANDUM <br />To:Parks and Recreation Commission <br />From:Lonnie Brokke <br />Date:November 26, 2013 <br />Re:Notes forCommission MeetingonTuesday December 3,2013 <br />Introductions <br />1. <br />Commissioners and staff will be introduced. <br />2. <br />Public Comment Invited <br />Public participation and public comment is encouraged. <br />3. <br />Approval of Minutes of the November 7, 2013Meeting <br />Enclosed is a copy of the minutes of November 7,2013.Please be prepared to approve or amend. <br />Requested Commission Action <br />:Approve/amend meetingminutesof November 7, 2013. <br />4. <br />Park and Recreation Renewal Program Preliminary Plans and General Discussion <br />On November 25, 2013 the City Council reviewed the proposal packages and the 50% plansets for all <br />buildings and shelters and authorized seeking proposalsfor the entire Renewal Program. Staff, Arizona <br />State University and the design team will be working over the next month to complete the Request for <br />Proposals(RFP’s)readying to send them out the middle of January 2014. <br />In an effort to keep the construction industry aware of what is coming up, there wasanother Best Value <br />Pre-Proposal and Educationmeeting on November 14, 2013 where there were more than 30 attendees. <br />This is encouraging as interest for the projects inthe Renewal Program appears strong. <br />The Natural Resources and Trails Subcommittee has provided their thoughts and feedback to staff for the <br />design team and have completed their work. Thanks to the group for their time, effort and expertise. <br />Projects will soon be finalized. <br />Any additional progress on the Renewal Program will be reported at the meeting. Comments, questions <br />and suggestions from the Commission are welcome and encouraged. <br />Requested Commission Action <br />:Hear update, discuss and provide advice. <br />5. <br />Accreditation 2014 <br />In 1994 Roseville was one of eightParks and Recreation Agencies in the Country to become <br />accreditedthrough the Commission for Accreditation of Parks and RecreationAgencies(CAPRA). The <br />accreditation program includes 151standards in ten categories (see attached list). <br />CAPRA accreditation is a five-year cycle that includes three phases; development of the agency self <br />assessment report, anonsite visitationand the Commission’sreview and decision. Within each of the five <br />years between assessments, an annual report is submitted to assure continued compliance with the <br />accreditation standards. <br />Roseville’s accreditation onsite visit is scheduled for May, 2014, with exact dates yet to be determined. <br />Staff will be prepared to provide you with an understanding ofthe program and yourinvolvement. <br />Requested Action <br />:Discussion <br />6. <br />Staff Report <br />7. <br />Other <br />8. <br />Adjournment <br /> <br />
