Department Approval <br />Item Description: <br />BACKGROUND <br />��� } <br />� <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Discussion on City Commissions <br />Date: January 6, 2014 <br />Item No.: 14.b <br />Citv Mana�er Approval <br />��... � �- <br />� <br />At the January 7, 2013 meeting, the City Council appointed fellow Council members Tammy McGehee <br />and Lisa Laliberte to a committee to review the current arrangement of City Commissions. Their task <br />was to include looking at the number of inembers and meetings each Commission has and to look at <br />what other new commissions might be needed, including implementing the findings of the Civic <br />Engagement Task Force. <br />As part of the subcommittee's work, they conducted a survey of current commissioners regarding how <br />the individual members feel the commissions are working. The results are in Attachment A. <br />Councilmembers McGehee and Laliberte will be able to share additional thoughts about their work as <br />part of the discussion on January 6tn <br />POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />Ciry Commissions serve as a valuable tool in providing greater citizen involvement to Ciry issues and <br />commissioners bring forth additional expertise on subject matters.
