01.0 <br />585 <br />As a member of the NRATS, Member DeDenedet advised that there was such an <br />586 <br />effort on behalf of the Parks Department on projects already started, and offered <br />587 <br />to e -mail that information to staff for dissemination to the PWETC. <br />588 <br />qw <br />589 <br />Chair Vanderwall noted that, using Buckthorn eradication as an example, this <br />590 <br />funding would only serve to only start the process, as it would take seven years <br />591 <br />for its total eradication, as well as continuing upkeep. While some of the items <br />592 <br />were not expensive to accomplish, Chair Vanderwall opined that the effect would <br />593 <br />only be seen for that particular year unless a good v nteer committee remained <br />594 <br />motivated to oversee it long -term. <br />595 <br />Department and the improvement plans, there had been considerable discussion <br />618 <br />Member DeBenedet stated that the intent of the NRATS was to take the pool of <br />619 <br />funding and spread it around to make as much effect as possible; with his personal <br />620 <br />hope that after doing so they would also find a way to continue that maintenance. <br />621 <br />qw <br />622 <br />Member Felice suggested part of the public educational process would be low - <br />623 <br />cost signage explaining what was being done and why. Member Felice opined <br />624 <br />that this was not only important for communication but to ensure public support <br />625 <br />of and involvement in those projects. <br />626 <br />627 <br />Mr. Schwartz advised that, in staff meetings with the Parks & Recreation <br />628 <br />Department and the improvement plans, there had been considerable discussion <br />629 <br />about providing educational opportunities and such explanations as Member <br />Page 14 of 18 <br />
