Holt, Stoner <br />ABSENT: <br />6 Azer, Boehm, Simbeck and Wallnotified staff ahead of time about being unable to <br />7attend <br />STAFF: <br />8Anfang, Brokke, Evenson <br />10 <br />9 <br />INTRODUCTIONS <br />111. <br />12 <br />ROLL CALL/PUBLIC COMMENT <br />132. <br />14None <br />15 <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES –DECEMBER 3, 2013 MEETING <br />163. <br />Commission Recommendation: <br />17 <br />18Minutes for the December 3, 2013 meeting were approved unanimously. <br />19 <br />PARK & RECREATION RENEWAL PROGRAM <br />204. <br />21 Brokke and Evenson updated the Commission on the Renewal Program. <br />22Trails & Pathways: $2M allocated in the Renewal Program <br />23$2.6M in projects have been identified: <br />o <br />24County Road B2 is potentially a $1.3M project. Staff are inquiring into the <br />25possibility of allocating storm water funding to address those areas of the B2 <br />26project, resulting in a savings to the Renewal Program Pathways budget <br />27$50,000 is ear-marked for pathway signage <br />28Doneen inquired into whether the County would be involved in funding any of <br />29the pathway projects <br />30Brokke responded that the County has not identified funding but they <br />31do support the concept <br />32Evenson reviewed the spreadsheet of projects and pointed out the projects using the <br />o <br />33pathways map and walked the Commission through the suggested projects <br />34D. Holt inquired into more information on striped shoulders component of projects <br />o <br />35Evenson talked about adding striped shoulders along low volume roads with <br />36low speeds. A striped shoulder is a painted line separating pedestrians from <br />37vehicular traffic with sufficient safe distance from cars <br />38Evenson explained to Commissioners that the RFP for the pathways would not be part <br />o <br />39of the initial announcement and are scheduled to go out in mid-February <br />40Natural Resource Management: $1.5M allocated in the Renewal Program <br />41Evenson talked about the potential of grants to leverage funding and hopefully <br />o <br />42maximize the Natural Resource dollars. The Renewal Program looks to spread the <br />43investment in Natural Resources as wide as possible <br />44Natural Resources are recognized as a high priority for our community. The <br />45goal of the Renewal Program is to include a natural area in every park and <br />46feature a Natural Resource project in each sector <br />47Our Natural Resource consultants have identified projects in every park <br />48with attention for maintenance needs and new additions to the <br />49community <br />50Doneen appreciated the work that has been done to identifying the core <br />51projects and recognizing the core projects as identified in the Natural Resource <br />52Master Plan plus those initiatives the community is interested in <br /> <br />
