The accompanying memorandum, which describes the Police Department's forfeiture <br />accounts, serves as foundation. <br />The Police Department forfeiture accounts are labeled as: Narcotics Forfeiture, Federal <br />Equitable Sharing- Narcotics and Alcohol Forfeiture. The Narcotics Forfeiture account holds <br />funds forfeited for controlled substance offenses and other "designated offenses", as defined in <br />Minnesota statutes. The Federal Equitable Sharing- Narcotics account holds funds forfeited for <br />federal controlled substance violations. The Alcohol Forfeiture account holds only funds forfeited <br />for DW I related offenses. <br />Purchases made in excess of $5,000 require Council approval. <br />The 2013 summary information for both accounts: <br />Narcotics Forfeiture <br />• Beginning balance- $92,646.06 <br />• Ending balance- $93,393.31 <br />Summary of purchases <br />• Vehicle tow and storage fees- $694 <br />• Ramsey County Crime Scene team -$3,087 <br />• Ramey County Law Enforcement Memorial Service- $312 <br />• SWAT training and equipment- $7,230 <br />• Exercise room updates- $14,568 <br />� Other nominal costs related to police services <br />Equitable Sharinq- Narcotics <br />• Beginning balance- $19,321.29 <br />• Ending balance- $78,475.79 <br />• No purchase made in 2013 <br />Alcohol Forfeiture <br />• Beginning balance- $280,702.42 <br />• Ending balance- $295,571.61 <br />Summary of purchases <br />• City attorney fees related to DWI forfeiture- not included in prosecution contract- $5,543 <br />• Vehicle tow and storage fees of seized vehicles- $23,010 <br />• Detention room upgrade and conversion to digital recordings- $6,185 <br />
