Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday,February 10,2014 <br /> Page 36 <br /> Councilmember Laliberte opined that this was setting the commission up for <br /> something they couldn't deliver, if they made recommendations and those proved <br /> cost-prohibitive to print in multiple languages. <br /> Councilmember Willmus opined that this didn't stipulate that everything had to <br /> be printed. <br /> Mayor Roe opined that he would prefer including language "making communica- <br /> tion available in multiple languages." <br /> Councilmember Laliberte opined that she still felt strongly about including "ac- <br /> cessible, understandable, and responsive to all" in the proposed language. Coun- <br /> cilmember Laliberte opined that just because something is printed doesn't mean <br /> it's available; and suggested there may be ways to disseminate the information in <br /> a better way. <br /> Mayor Roe opined that"facilitating communication" served that intent. <br /> Councilmember McGehee concurred with Mayor Roe; however, she opined that <br /> the need was also there to provide multiple languages on the website. <br /> Mayor Roe noted that the City Council would make the ultimate decisions on that. <br /> New Items <br /> As noted, Item "F" under the new items was included elsewhere and was stricken <br /> in its entirety. <br /> New Item#1 <br /> Councilmember McGehee opined that another annual look back was not needed. <br /> Councilmember Etten asked that staff include that as a starting point as other <br /> things could be recommended to come forward; and concurred that it should be <br /> included by reference as a foundational starting point, but was not necessary to <br /> include in the code. <br /> With consensus of the body, Mayor Roe confirmed that the intent was that it be <br /> referenced, but not included in the code language. <br /> New Item #2 <br /> Councilmember Laliberte reviewed her intent in this proposed item related to <br /> government efforts; with consensus of the body to leave the language as pro- <br /> posed. <br /> Mayor Roe confirmed that New Items #1 and 4 were stricken, along with Item <br /> “F.15 <br />
