Just yesterday, my client and I learned of the discussion surrounding the Twin Lakes Redevelopment Area, which includes my client's property. As he and I are unable to attend the special meeting of the Council this evening, I am sending this letter to inform you of my client's strong support for replacing the current High Density Residential zoning on his property with a Community Mixed Use zoning category that would provide for greater flexibility in the use of the property. There is simply not a market at this time for the type of residential development on my client's property that is envisioned in the HDR zoning, but there is demand for the types of commercial uses contemplated in some of the CMU zoning categories that we understand are under consideration. My client strongly encourages you to continue moving forward with the process of considering more appropriate zoning categories in the Twin Lakes Redevelopment Area and on his property in particular. Now that my client is aware of this process, we plan to participate in the ongoing discussions and look forward to working with city staff and the planning commission to arrive at an outcome that is fair to property owners and will facilitate positive growth and development in this important area of the City.
