Department Approval <br />.► <br />.� <br />Item Description: <br />�J� <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 4-7-14 <br />Item No.: 7 . f <br />City Manager Approval <br />�� �� <br />� <br />Approve Recreation Agreement with the City of Lauderdale <br />BACKGROUND <br />It has been a practice for the City of Roseville Parks and Recreation Department to wark with <br />� surrounding communities to provide and enhance quality parks and recreation programs and services for <br />the primary benefit of Roseville Citizens and to share services where possible, practical and is a benefit <br />�� to all communities involved. <br />The City of Lauderdale has requested assistance with their summer recreation programs in 2014. This <br />formalizes a shared service into the attached agreement. <br />The proposed agreement provides several recreation program services to the City of Lauderdale between <br />June 23, 2014 and August 15, 2014. The agreement has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is <br />recomended for approval by staff. <br />� Generally, the agreement allows for the City of Lauderdale residents to receive: <br />��� 1) Existing Roseville summer recreation program offerings at a resident rate <br />��� 2) Summer recreation programs at Lauderdale Community Park between the dates of June 23, <br />� 2014 and August 15, 2014 <br />�� 3) The popular Puppet Wagon performances at Lauderdale Community Park one day per week <br />1� and at their annual community "Day In The Park" celebration <br />� <br />� In exchange, Roseville Parks and Recreation will receive: <br />�. 1) Payment for the difference between the resident fee and non-resident fee by the City of <br />� Lauderdale <br />�- 2) Payment for the Puppet Wagon appearances at the agreed upon rate <br />� 3) Access to the Lauderdale facilities at the agreed upon times <br />This agreement is consistent with the vision of the recently adopted Parks and Recreation System Master <br />Plan and the aspiration of the city to encourage exploring shared services. <br />The agreement benefits Roseville financially and programmatically and affords the City of Lauderdale <br />the opportunity for their residents to participate in an expanded array of recreation programs. <br />POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />� This proposal is consistent with the Parks and Recreation System Master Plan and with the cities vision <br />� to explore and encourage share services whenever practical and possible. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
