Item Description: BACKGROUND �� REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Date: 4/14/2014 Item No.: S.c City Manager Approval ��--��-�.�.- Recognize and Accept a Donation from Roseville Police Foundation The Roseville Police Foundation's mission is to advance public safery by supporting and providing additional resources to strengthen the Roseville Police Department's ties to the community. This will be achieved by enhancing RPD's capacity to provide quality services through safety outreach initiatives and the pursuit of innovative training and technology. The Roseville Police Foundation was recently recognized by the State of Minnesota as a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) corporation. At the latest meeting, the board voted to donate a canine tactical vest for Roseville K9, Sieger, who is partnered with Roseville Police Officer Brooke Jennings. The vest offers ballistic along with edged weapon protection and is valued at $2,718.00. This will be the first donation of the Roseville Police Foundation and several members of the board will be present at the meeting. Members of the Roseville Police Foundation are: President Jim Faulconbridge, Vice President Julie Wearn, Treasurer Michael Bilski, Secretary Kathy Ploof, Hugh Thibodeau, Dick Houck, Janet Henquinet and Scott Michaelis. OBJECTIVE The donation fits within the City of Roseville donation policy. FINANCIAL IMPACTS There is no cost to the city. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Allow the police department to accept the donation of the Roseville Police Foundation, formally recognize the foundation and show our appreciation for the generous support of the police department. REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION Request Council approval to accept the donation of the Roseville Police Foundation, farmally recognize the foundation and show our appreciation for the generous support of the police department.
