\

~l. Edinborough and Centennial Lakes
I' · Maplewood Community Center
. Shoreview Community Center

Member Rhody asked what process the Task Force has completed regarding the
trailer park. Keith Wietecki explained the process of the re-development. He
noted in 40 years, something win happen on this site. Whatever replaces or
improves the mobile home park must adhere to the Comprehensive Plan. The
Task Force is now taking public input from the residents and interest groups.

Member Olson asked why the VFW was included.

Member Wilke noted that the whole project would be completed in 40 years.
What is a timetable for the City Center? Mr. Wietecki noted that the Arona
building recreation center needs to be moved in 2-4 years and will include a
referendum. The schools are getting crowded, the meeting space is small, the
recreation center is deteriorating, the fire station is too small. The private
development is a much longer-term issue.

Member Cunningham asked how long it took to construct other centers. Mr.
Wietecki estimated 5-10 years.

Member Olson asked if there was enough space to add facilities to this site. Mr.
Wietecki noted higher buildings and ramps can be done but are expensive. The
public works building could be moved to a coordinated central location.

Chair Klausing asked why is it necessary? What purpose is there to amend the
Plan if no changes in land use will occur? Mr. Wietecki noted that the plan gives
time to decide what will be on the site in the future. It provides assurance of
future land use and zoning.

Member Egli asked for explanation of public input that will occur and has
occurred. Mr. Wietecki noted what meetings were held once per month.
Community discussions will begin again on May 20, 1999. He listed the
organizations that have already been invited.

A ten-minute break was taken.

Donna Hanson, mobile home park, '~"lS concerned about the time frame - when
will the mobile home park be bought? Keith Wietecki responded the reason for
the mobile home park inclusion is for a light-rail transit stop. The primary use
will include transit and higher density housing. The transit will be determined by
the legislative funding.

Chair Klausing noted that he was opposed to city acquisition of the mobile home
park because the Huberty site has higher priority as does the public works
