The Task Force stud:-' is the first step in an extensjn~, public process to <br />determine the needs of the City Center neighborhood for the next 25 :-'ears. You have recei\'cd <br />City Center Update because you live e:ther in or near the City Center area im'oked in the study. <br />The Roseville City Council wants you to be informed about the Task Force acti\ities ~1!ld in\'o!\'ed in <br />the planning process, <br /> <br />The 13-member City Center Task Force was appointed b~ the Ho::;e\'il1c City COl:nci! ill .-\LlgU,,;t ui' <br />1998. The ~'ask Force is composed of 13 citizen members. The study \dll take at least nine mont hs <br />and is supposed to be completed by mid-July. 1999. The consultant is Kun \\'ay, a nat ionally <br />recognized city center designer with the firm EJlerbe-Becket. Rosevitle's Community' Den>!opmL'111 <br />Director, Dennis Welsch (490-2232) is the City staff coordinator for the project. <br /> <br />The purpose of the City Center study is to be \'isionary - to determi ne what the need s of the Ci t Y <br />may be in the study area for the next 25 years. The study was recommended by the Planning <br />Commission in the 1994 Comprehensive PJan. The center of the study area is the corner of <br />Lexington Avenue and County Road C. As Kim Way said at the October 8 organization nleeting. <br />the strength of the area is Centra! Park. the Civic Center and the existing scale ofbuiJdings in tt~l' <br />area. The challenge is to make the City Center more ~ccessible by pathway, sidewa!k and street <br />systems and to create a mix of uses that inter~st ail age groups \vithin the community. <br /> <br />One of the upcoming activities of Kim Way and the Task Force is to interview interested groups in <br />the community including one meeting specifi.cally designed for property owners in or near the study <br />area. <br /> <br />The second meeting of the City Center Task Force is scheduled for Thursday, October 22,1998 <br />beginning at 6:30 p.m., in City Hall, 2660 Civic Center Drive. The meeting is open to the public. <br />This meeting and future meetings will be te!ecast on Cable Channel 16. <br /> <br />If you have questions, please contact Dennis Welsch at 490-2232 (fax: 490-2931).
