March 21, 1990

FROM:

Planning Commission
Jim Zelinsky, police Chief~j'
SECURITY FOR CROSSROADS SHOPPING CENTER

TO:

SUBJECT:

Welch Construction has presented a security plan to the Roseville
police Department which is void of any security concerns that we
have.

On the above date, Sergeant Lunzer and I met with Bob Pounds and
John Stencel, the construction proj ect engineer. Our original
concerns were satisfied in two main areas:

1. Parkinq Ramp Securitv. Mr. Stencel assures us that
the lighting will meet the I.E.S. standards (Illuminating
Engineering Society) which was required for the Rosedale
Center parking ramp which is now in operation. Simply
stated, Mr. Stencel has required this of his electrical
engineer (Mr. stencel has a copy of these lighting
requirements) .

2. Securitv Hardware. Mr. Pounds has assured us that
both the common doors and tenant doors will be equipped
with security collars for the lock cylinders as well as
latch guards. This reduces the vulnerability to
burglar(s) of twisting off lock cylinders with a tool
such as a pipe wrench, and by spreading the door frame
adjacent to the latch or deadbolt. (There will be rare
exceptions where Fire Exit panic bars, etc. take
priority) .

cc:~.
