The City Council referred this matter back to the Planning <br />commission to allow the applicant to put together more <br />detailed information to justify the variance. <br /> <br />2. The City staff assisted the applicant in gathering the <br />necessary information to resubmit to prove a hardship on his <br />property. <br /> <br />3. It is staff's opinion that the new information submitted <br />still does not justify the granting of a variance. <br /> <br />4. The Planning Commission unanimously recommended denial of the <br />variance based on the findings that no hardship is present <br />because of the lack of supporting documentation by the <br />applicant. The applicant did not attend the meeting. <br /> <br />5. City staff has sent a letter to the applicant stating the <br />Planning Commission action and reminding Mr. Brandt of the <br />May 28, 1991 City Council meeting. <br /> <br />Alternatives: <br />1. Deny the variance based on findings that no hardship exists. <br />2. Approve the variance as requested. <br /> <br />policy objectives: <br /> <br />1. To insure that all development occurs in accordance with the <br />City's zoning and sign ordinance requirements. <br /> <br />2. To grant variances where hardships exist. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />1. It is recommended that the city Council deny George Brandt, <br />Ine.'s request for a variance to the sign ordinance at 2975 <br />Long Lake 'Road based on the findings that no hardship has <br />
