City ordinances require that the City Council must approve a <br />shoreline building permit before any building permits can be <br />issued for construction on lots that abut lakes. <br /> <br />2. City ordinances require that all structures on residential <br />property, except docks and boat houses must have the 75 foot <br />setback from the lake. <br /> <br />3. Mr. George Johnson has requested a shoreline building permit <br />and a variance from the 75 foot setback requirement to allow <br />him to remove an existing 10' X 10' shed which is setback <br />approximately 10 feet from the lake and to construct a new <br />10' X 14' shed which will be approximately 30 feet from the <br />lake. A variance will be required because the shed will not <br />meet the 75 foot setback requirement. <br /> <br />4. Mr. Johnson has obtained letters from adj acent property <br />owners indicating that they do not oppose the variance <br />request. <br /> <br />Alternatives: <br /> <br />1. Deny the request because it does not meet the standards in <br />the shoreline ordinance. <br /> <br />2. Approve the shoreline permit and variance as requested. <br /> <br />Policy Ob;ectives: <br /> <br />1. To maintain and protect lakes by controlling development <br />along the shore. <br /> <br />2. To protect the visual appearance of lakeshore properties by <br />requiring that structures be set back sufficient distance <br />from the shoreline. <br /> <br />3.
