Hom Oak and Leather has requested variances to allow a sign <br />which is 176 sq. feet in area instead of the required 70 sq. <br />feet and which is 30 feet high instead of the maximum height <br />of 25 feet. <br /> <br />2. The Roseville Planning commission, on a 6-1 vote, recommended <br />approval of the variance to allow a 100 sq. foot sign which <br />does not exceed 30 feet in height. <br /> <br />3. Subsequent to the Planning Commission meeting, the applicant <br />has submitted a revised drawing which shows a sign which is <br />approximately 98 sq. feet in area and 30 feet tall. <br /> <br />Alternatives: <br /> <br />1. Approve the variance based on findings that a hardship or <br />practical difficulty exists. <br /> <br />2. Deny the variance because no hardship or practical difficulty <br />exists. <br /> <br />Policy Objectives: <br /> <br />1. To insure development consistent with the city's sign <br />ordinances. <br /> <br />2. To approve variances where hardship and/or practical <br />difficulty is demonstrated. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />1. It is recommended that the City Council approve a variance to <br />allow Hom Oak and Leather to have a sign which is 98 sq. feet <br />instead of 70 sq. feet and 30 feet high instead of 25 feet <br />high at 2525 Snelling Avenue North. <br />
