The Bedroom, Inc., Case No. 2207

page 3

The decision that you make on this application should be
based, at least in part, on your feelings about the future
of sign control in Roseville. We are actively working on
amendments to many sections of the sign ordinance aimed at
reducing the amount of signage throughout the City. Some
of them may be approved as suggested, and many may be
reviewed and the code left as it currently reads. In
other words, the decision about the adequacy of the signs
available to this applicant is a relative question.

We believe that there are visibility constraints,
including the Welsh wall and the power line towers that
could support a favorable action on this application.
Concerns about wayward motorists in the area and the
circuity of access to this business might also argue for
some additional clarity of area signage. However, looking
simply at the issue of pylon signage, we are not convinced
that the sign allowed by code does not work. Remember
that there is currently no pylon sign in place to help
customers find this location. It might also be
appropriate to consider some compromise between the 70
square feet allowed by code and the 176 square feet that
is currently being requested.
