February 28. 1991

Re: New Street Construction - Variance for existing driveway at 1300 w.
Shryer to remain as is

To Whom It May Concern.

I am writing this statement for your use as required by the blanket variance
application for the driveway at 1300 w. Shryer, Item 10d.

The City of Roseville has proposed to make street improvements for the
street block including the above residence. A notice was sent to the above
residence requesting that the owner apply for a driveway variance for a 30
year old existing driveway. The current owner had purchased the house in
1985 with the understanding that there were no code violations existing for
the house and property. Indeed, it should be assumed that the driveway in
question. when constructed 30 years ago. was in full compliance with the
City's building codes and was inspected by the City at that time to determine
compliance with that code.

This is not a statement to request an improvement variance. I do not have
any current plans for any improvement to the driveway at this time and I
have not done any work on the existing driveway. This is a statement to
request that the driveway should remain as it has for the last 30 years.

There are several hardships that would be enacted should the City decide to
change the location of the existing driveway ( please see enclosed site plan ).
Those hardships would be as follows:
1. One existing 30 year old pine tree would be destroyed
2. One existing 30 year old Birch tree would be destroyed
3. One existing 30 year old Arborvitae( 10 feet high)
would be destroyed
4. Existing steps to back door would have to be removed
and the location of the back door would have to change
5. The driveway would no longer line up with the 30 year
old existing garage
