The City ordinances require that driveways on residential <br />property, be located at least 30 feet away from streets on <br />corner lots. <br /> <br />2. Chiew Koay has an existing driveway which is located 24 feet <br />from the right-of-way line instead of the required 30 feet. <br /> <br />3. It is the Cityls policy to require that driveways be brought <br />into compliance with setback requirements when streets are <br />upgraded through the pavement management program. <br /> <br />4. The Minor Variance Committee unanimously recommended approval <br />of the variance because the driveway lines up with the <br />existing garage and does not present any safety problems at <br />the intersection. <br /> <br />Alternatives: <br /> <br />1. Deny the variance and require that the driveway be installed <br />with the proper 30 foot setback. <br /> <br />2. Approve the variance as requested. <br /> <br />policv Obiectives: <br /> <br />1. To bring existing non-conforming driveways into compliance <br />with the ordinance by either granting the variance or <br />requiring that they be installed with the proper 30 foot <br />setback. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />1. It is recommended that the city Council approve Chiew Koay's <br />request for a minor variance at 1225 Eldridge Avenue. <br />
