Altra Auto Rental has operated out of the building at 2353 <br />Rice Street for a number of years. <br /> <br />2. City ordinances were amended within the last year to allow <br />auto rental and leasing to occur in additional zoning <br />districts if special use permits are obtained and to set <br />standards which must be met for granting of special use <br />permits. <br /> <br />3 . Al tra Auto Rental is applying for the required special use <br />permit to allow them to continue to operate at 2353 Rice <br />Street. <br /> <br />4. The Planning commission unanimously recommended approval of <br />Altra Auto Rental request for a special use permit with the <br />following conditions: <br /> <br />a. That the maximum number of Altra Auto cars on the site <br />is limited to ten on weekends and five on Monday throqgh <br />Friday in the location shown on the drawing submitted. <br /> <br />b. That Altra cars will not be parked on Woodbridge street <br />or adjacent public streets. <br /> <br />c. That transport trailers or maintenance equipment will <br />not be stored in the parking lot yard or on the adjacent <br />public streets. <br /> <br />d. That the special use permit is in effect only as long as <br />surplus parking is present on the site based on actual <br />usage of the building. <br /> <br />5. The planning Commission further recommends that the Council <br />approve a variance to Section 8.365 #3 because, based o~ the <br />amount of square footage of the building, there is no surplus <br />of parking as required by that ordinance section. <br />
