City ordinances require that residential structures have a 30 <br />foot front yard setback. <br /> <br />2. william Kinnunen is requesting a variance to allow him to <br />remove an existing mud room and replace it with a larger <br />dining room addition such that it would have a 13 foot <br />setback from the new property line adjacent to Alta vista <br />Drive, after the City acquires 5 additional feet, instead of <br />the required 30 feet. <br /> <br />3. The Minor Variance Committee unanimously recommended approval <br />of Mr. Kinnunen's request based on the fact that the hardship <br />presented by the fact that the house is not parallel with the <br />street. <br /> <br />Alternatives: <br /> <br />1. Deny the variance request based on there being no hardship <br />demonstrated. <br /> <br />. . <br />2. Approve the variance as requested. <br />Policy Objectives: <br /> <br />1. To insure that construction occurs in conformance with City <br />zoning ordinance. <br /> <br />2. To allow for expansion of structures on single family <br />residential property. <br /> <br />3. To approve variances where hardships are demonstrated. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />1. It is recommended that the City council approve william <br />Kinnunen's request for a minor variance at 1810 Alta Vista <br />Drive. <br />
