<br />J3~g <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />DATE: 7-22-91 <br /> <br />ITEM NO.: 13-1 <br /> <br /> <br />Manager Reviewed: <br /> <br />Agenda Section: <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Consent <br /> <br />Wayne and Susan Wolter request for a minor <br />variance at 1990 Fernwood. <br /> <br />Backqround: <br /> <br />1. The City ordinances require that there be a 30 foot front yard <br />setback in residential zoning districts. <br /> <br />2 . Wayne and Susan Wolter are requesting a variance to allow them <br />to construct an 8x9 foot entry addition onto their existing <br />dwelling. The addition would have a setback of 26'6" i~stead <br />of the required 30 feet. <br /> <br />3. The Minor Variance Committee unanimously recommended approval <br />of the minor variance. The Committee felt that this was a <br />reasonable request because of the narrow lot depth, because <br />the addition would have a greater setback than the existing <br />garage on this site and the structure on the adjacent lot. <br /> <br />Alternatives: <br /> <br />1. Deny the variance request and require that the addition be <br />constructed in accordance with the City setback requirements. <br /> <br />2. Approve the variance based on a finding of hardship. <br /> <br />Policy Objectives: <br /> <br />1. .To insure that structures are built in accordance with the <br />City's zoning ordinance. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />1. It is recommended that the City Council approve Wayne and <br />Susan Wolter's request for a minor variance at 1990 Fernwood. <br /> <br />council Action Requested: <br /> <br />1. Motion to approve Wayne and Susan Wolter's request for a minor <br />variance at 1990 Fernwood. <br />
