We agreed that the request would
either be withdrawn altogether or continued from the Planning Commission meeting of August 14,
1991, until a later meeting, September 11, 1991, at the earliest. Should you wish to have the
request considered at that meeting, you must submit a complete application to City Hall by 4:30
p.m., Tuesday, August 20, 1991.

The continuance is so that you, your representative, or your sign contractor can verify
information submitted with the variance application. Since the variance request concerns the size
of the proposed sign and the total area of all signage that might ultimately be allowed on the
property, it is important to know the size of the existing sign. Information contained in the
application was unclear, and I requested your sign contractor, William Cragg of Pascual Signs, to
verify the necessary dimensions. He responded saying that he had personally measured the sign,
but the dimensions he gave me were not consistent with the drawing submitted with the
application or a common sense look at the sign. I measured the sign on the site this week and
found it to be approximately 29' in height and 160 square feet in area, compared to the 22'-6"
height and 96 square feet reported by Mr. Cragg. The City will not be able to process an
application which we believe is based on inaccurate information. Since the existing sign is over
the 25' height limit, any new application must also include a request for a variance to the
height limit as well.

If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to call.

Sincerely,

DAHLGREN, SHARDLOW, AND UBAN, INe.

Philip Carlson, AICP
for the Roseville City Planning Staff

cc: Rick Jopke
William Cragg

1101:2354B
