This property would become the location of a
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection site.

Per our telephone conversation yesterday, you have requested
additional information regarding drainage at the proposed site and
how any spills would be controlled.

The attached map shows proposed drainage patterns at the site.
Drainage on the concrete pad itself would drain to a low point on the
concrete slab. The bituminous paving leading to the concrete pad
would be graded to drain away from the concrete slab to Kent Street or
to the detention pit site.

with regard to potential spills, the site would be operated with an
emphasis on preventing spills. Technicians from the County's
contractor, Dynex Industries, Inc., . would remove acceptable wastes
from vehicles and place them in leak-proof plastic tubs. . Waste
containers would not be opened at this site unless necessary to verify
contents. Containers would be packed in drums, placed into a truck,
and then transported to the main Dynex facility in Mounds View at the
end of each operating day. Dynex would also provide the necessary
tools and equipment for hazardous material spill control. Attached is
the Emergency contingency Plan, prepared by Dynex for the satellite
site recently opened in Maplewood, which includes a section on
chernicalspills. Dynex would have very similar contingency procedures
for the Roseville site.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to call me at
292-7903, or Zack Hansen, Solid Waste Division Manager, at 292-7904.

o @

'~ele<

CREATING A HEALTHY FUTURE FOR RAMSEY COUNTY

f~I"I>I~
