<br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />DATE: 8-12-91 <br /> <br />ITEM NO.: [;-3 <br /> <br /> <br />Manager Reviewed: <br /> <br />Agenda section: <br /> <br />~~ <br /> <br />Consent <br /> <br />Mark and Elizabeth VanGuilder request for a <br />minor variance at 658 Terrace Drive. <br /> <br />Backaround: <br /> <br />1. City ordinances require 10 foot sideyard setbacks. <br /> <br />2. Mark and Elizabeth VanGuilder wish to construct an addition <br />onto their house which would have a 5 foot setback instead of <br />the required 10 feet. <br /> <br />3. The Roseville Minor Variance Committee believed this was a <br />reasonable alternative because of the lack of feasible <br />alternatives and because it saves trees on the property. <br />Alternatives: <br /> <br />1. Deny the variance and require the addition to be constructed <br />in accordance with the City ordinances. <br /> <br />2. Approve the variance as requested based on a finding that a <br />hardship or practical difficulty exists. <br /> <br />Policy Obiectives: <br /> <br />1. To insure that structures are built in accordance with the <br />City's zoning ordinance requirements. <br /> <br />2. To grant variances where hardships and/or practical <br />difficulties are demonstrated. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />1. It is recommended that the ci ty Council approve Mark and <br />Elizabeth VanGuilder's request for a minor variance at 658 <br />Terrace Drive. <br /> <br />Council Action Reauested: <br /> <br />1. Motion to approve Mark and Elizabeth VanGuilder's request for <br />a minor variance at 658 Terrace Drive. <br />
