Franklin Ho is proposing to remodel the existing single <br />family dwelling at 1935 Cleveland Avenue North into a two <br />family dwelling to allow him to rent out part of the house. <br />Mr. Ho would continue to live in the house in one of the <br />units. <br /> <br />2. The existing site is zoned R-1 single family residential. A <br />two family dwelling is not permitted, therefore, the site <br />must be rezoned to R-2. <br /> <br />3 . <br /> <br />It has been the <br />rezoning any R-1 <br />individual case. <br /> <br />City's policy in the past to consider <br />site to R-2 based on the facts· of the <br /> <br />4. The Planning Commission, on a 6-1 vote, recommended denial of <br />Mr. Ho' s request for rezoning based on the fact that the <br />proposed two family dwelling does not fit into the character <br />of the neighborhood and could lead to deterioration over <br />time. <br /> <br />Alternatives: <br /> <br />1. Approve the rezoning if the proposal is in character with the <br />neighborhood and would not adversely effect the future of the <br />area. <br /> <br />2. Deny the rezoning if the proposed zoning would be detrimental <br />to the neighborhood and surrounding area. <br /> <br />policv Obiectives: <br /> <br />1. To approve rezonings which are consistent with the City's <br />comprehensive plan and which do not adversely effect the <br />surrounding neighborhood. <br /> <br />2. To consider rezoning R-1 properties to R-2 on a case by case <br />basis. <br />
