The City Council, in October, adopted a number of amendments <br />to the City's sign ordinance. Items concerning seasonal <br />bann~rs and institutional signs (churches, parks, etc.) were <br />continued for further discussion. <br /> <br />2 . The City Council discussed this matter at the January ~ork <br />Session and directed staff to do further research concerning <br />provisions relating to special events and off premise <br />directional signs. <br /> <br />3. Additional sign issues have been studied concerning wall <br />signage for multi-tenant buildings that do not front a public <br />street and the handling of window signage on buildings in <br />which the principal exterior building material is glass. <br /> <br />4. The Planning Commission discussed the proposed amendments on <br />March 10, 1993 and made the following recommendations. <br /> <br />1. The Commission recommends that the following language be <br />incorporated into the City's sign ordinance: <br /> <br />14.600 F. (Existing F. would become G.) <br /> <br />F. Wall signage for tenant spaces on portions of the <br />buildings that do not front on pUblic streets, shall be <br />allowed an area of wall signage not to exceed 1/2 the <br />area allowed if the same facade fronted a public street. <br /> <br />14.190 Window Sians <br /> <br />Signs affixed to windows, or placed within 36" of a <br />window to be viewed from the exterior of the building, <br />shall not occupy "more than 25% of the total window area, <br />nor shall they be placed in a location that would block <br />the view into the building from a public street of the <br />clerk or cashier's area. Under no circumstance shall <br />the total area of window signage exceed 1/2 the <br />allowable area of wall signage for the effected <br />building. <br />
