POTENTIAL KODIFICATIOB TO tHE ROSEVILLE SIGN ORDINANCE
A.FFECTINC CHURCHES AND SIHILAR USES

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to respond to this potential
modification to the Roseville sign ordinance.

The following ordinances are of concern to us and might affect our church
ministries:

DIRECTIONAL SIGNS:
"Off-premiseR directional signs chat help che public to find our church.

HOLIDA.Y SIGIIS:
The prohibition of signs or displays depicting messages pertaining to
church holidays.

FLAGS:
Does the church flag receive permission for display? Stated: "or
sanctioned by an elected legislative body of competent jurisdiction"--has
that body allowed the church flag?

SPECIAL ¡wun:S SECrIĆ: (requirea teIIporary pe1:llit)
The special events signs and decorations ordinance should not have to
have a temporary permit.

Because of our many events (which serve che Roseville community). I feel
that the ordinance sugge.ted is a bit more restrictive than it needs to be.

Suggestions:
1. Allow for at least 8-10 events a year.

II. Allow for events to be up to 4 weeks per event. that is 2 weeks to
advertise for the event and 2 weeks for the event; therefore 4 weeks.

INSTITUTIONAL USES--
A. 5. Signs decorations and displays are allowed four days per event,
two events per yearuWe have many events: VBS. Family VBS.
Lenten Fair, Advent Festival, ILeOHS, Keatball- Lutefisk Dinner,
etc. and u.ny of those events last for more than four davs.

B. 1.
2.
3.

Searchlightsnone event per year. one unit per event. We have many
events in which we .ight employ this device.

Small Balloons--Can't exceed two feet as the largest dimension.
"Helium balloons shall be refilled daily.· NOT PRACTICAL

TentsnOne tent per year. I disagree with only 1 tent. Too restric-
tive as to what you can do. We need uny tents for more than once
per year! We need II&nY for Vacation Bible School and for All Saints'
Party. Does this ordinance apply only to tents that are being used
for advertising? I agree with the location of tents on church
property and the other set-back require.ents.

5. BannersuNo more than two banners per event. Too restrictive and
oppose the fact chat we would need a permit to put one on the
building. Yeneed up to 48 hours for signs¡banners to be removed
after the last day of the event. It is not always easy to get
volunteers to respond so quickly.

-Over-
