MEMORANDUM

DATE: November 3, 1992

TO: craig A. Waldron
FROM: Rick JOPkee8"
SUBJECT: Walgreen's Screen

As I understand it, an issue came up at the October 26 ci ty
Council meeting concerning the screening along the west side of
the Walgreen's site. City staff has discussed Walgreen's plans a
number of times over the past few months. The issue of screening
the Walgreen's use from the adjacent residential area was covered
in those discussions and the applicant has a copy of the city's
design standards. You will also note specifically in the
September 30, 1992 Planning Office Hours memos that the matter
was brought to and was reviewed by the Development Review
Committee and discussion of a screen fence along the west
property line was mentioned.

As a normal course of action, plans submi tted for building
permits are reviewed against all ordinance standards. Also, as a
matter of normal course of action, all new building construction,
such as this, is brought before the Development Review Committee
for review at building permit time. In that light, the
Walgreen's plans will be reviewed and the screening issues
specifically will be looked at and taken care of. In the mean
time, I will continue to work with the Walgreen's staff to review
this matter further.
